Fallen HostAuthored by Lyda Morehouse First Published: 2002 Brief OverviewBrief ReviewFrom what I remember of this and its earlier counterpart, Archangel Protocol?, this is a slightly slower book and follows the character Morningstar, the fallen angel, already with the knowledge that angels are real, whereas the previous book left that question open almost to the very end. These books blend hard science fiction, and a world where everyone had a small Link implant that connects them to the system (and lets them buy products, connect to information sources directly at all times, and everything else you'd expect from a global direct-to-your-brain link) with a strong biblical religious side which suggests that physical angels really do exist and are walking around just like normal people, but capable of miracles. All in all it's an interesting and unusual premise that the author has explored in about three books now I believe. At times, especially as an athiest, I found myself almost squirming because I was pushed into a very immersive world where angels did exist, and co-existed against a cyberspace backdrop that I knew well and was comfortable with, and the antithesis between the two ideas which gelled so neatly in this world was a little awkward to work through at the start. Certainly at least one of these books is worth a read if the idea intrigues you, it doesn't really require any strong biblical knowledge and there is more than enough futuristic technology to keep even the most stubborn non-believer reading until the end. Related WorksThis is set in the same universe, and is possibly a sequel to Archangel Protocol?. TriviaExternal Links |
